Foundation Receives $63,600 State Award Print E-mail

Davis County, Iowa --- The Davis County Community Foundation has received a $63,600 state award for countywide grantmaking and endowment building. The payment is a result of legislation (House File 2302) passed in 2004 by the Iowa General Assembly.

The legislation which was part of several incentives to promote the formation and development of county foundations in Iowa who will be splitting over $5.4 million to jump start local philanthropic activities in their county.

The Davis County Community Foundation has been working diligently to organize and prepare for the state funds and for other local gifts that will help advance charitable and philanthropic activity in the county. The foundation will soon announce its 2006 grantmaking procedures and timetable.

Individuals and nonprofit charitable organizations interested in making gifts and receiving grants from the foundation should attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, November 29, at 7 p.m. at the McCollum Complex (DC Schools central office)
